EPISEALER® PATELLOFEMORAL SYSTEM,
A PERSONALIZED IMPLANT SYSTEM FOR THE TREATMENT OF
OSTEOARTHRITIS IN THE PATELLOFEMORAL JOINT
Gulf Atlantic Surgical is proud to have been a part of the first Episealer® Patellofemoral System case in the United States:
                                                           https://x.com/Episurf/status/1765325706202853441
                                 PERSONALIZED JOINT PRESERVATION
The Episealer® Patellofemoral System is intended for patients with osteoarthritis limited to the distal patellofemoral joint, patients with a history of patellar dislocation or patellar fracture, and those patients with failed previous surgery (arthroscopy, tibial tubercle elevation, lateral
release, etc.) where pain, deformity or dysfunction persists. The system consists of two implant components (the “Femoral Component“and the “Patellar Component”) as well as their corresponding instruments. The Femoral Component can either be of a circular shape, or with an elongated shape formed by two overlapping circles. The two implant components are intended to be inserted in articulating positions in the patellofemoral joint.
                                               PERSONALIZED SURFACE GEOMETRY
The implants are personalized and designed to match each other´s articulating surfaces.
Thanks to the personalized approach, both the thickness and surface geometry of the two
implants are adapted to fit your patient’s unique anatomy.
                                              EPISEALER® PATELLOFEMORAL SYSTEM
The implant components and associated instruments are designedbased on MRI data of the patient’s knee. Using a tailored 3D MRI sequence as well as conventional (2D) diagnostic sequences, geometric acquisition and (osteo)chondral damage assessment are obtained.
The MR images are used to create a virtual 3D model of the knee included in a Damage Marking Report. You will be able to review any potential implant solutions that Episurf can offer and modify
the suggested solution if needed. The report is delivered through µiFidelity®, Episurf’s online management system. Once an implant solution has been approved, the implants and
instruments are designed and produced. All implants and instruments will arrive sterile to the site of care. Thanks to their personalized design, all instruments are single-use. No reprocessing and/or storage space will be needed for any Episurf equipment.
